THE INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM
Eton is proud to be an IB World School. Grade 11 and 12 students follow the academically rigorous and highly regarded International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program here in Mexico City, under the expert guidance of our experienced international teachers.
The IB Program is a challenging two-year curriculum that culminates in a certification valued by the world’s top universities. It has two fundamental strands: specialist subject groups and the core program.
Our international High School learners study six subject groups: Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Sciences, Mathematics, and Creative Arts. Three of these groups are taken at higher level and three at standard level.
They also complete the core IB Program – Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) – to achieve their full Diploma.
The IB core program:
-
Theory of Knowledge (TOK): a course that explores critical thinking, giving students an understanding of how we learn.
-
The Extended Essay: a 4,000-word independent research project focusing on a specific subject or topic a student is passionate about.
-
Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS): a range of activities that nurture creativity, foster wellbeing, and provide opportunities to contribute to the community.
